Just my luck…the good and the bad

Well my crazy week is almost wrapped up!  I went into a crazy cleaning phase, had to argue with AT&T to get my husband’s cell phone re-activated, and a million different errands.  But it all paid off and we finally greeted the missing part of our family on Tuesday morning!  Here is a little photogenic proof!

In other good news I have a meeting at the school that has been on the very top of my “would love to work at” list!!  I am so excited and hope that I can show what I can bring to the table for them!  It really would be my dream job!  But of course with every piece of good news comes bad news.  My bad news came in the form of strep throat.  They day that I welcomed home my husband I was diagnosed with strep.  I guess it is running rampant through the schools here.  It’s not even bad, except it has taken off with my voice!  It is just starting to come back today, hopefully it fully returns by tomorrow!  Thank goodness for antibiotics!

After Friday Thomas is officially on leave for two weeks!  We plan on doing some fun activities with the kids and also some work on the house!  We are having a welcome home/graduation party this weekend so we can get together with all of our friends that Thomas has not seen in the last 8 months. I think the kids will have the most fun, we are renting a big bounce house and bring out the water slide, and later on a bon fire with smores!  And speaking of graduation I received my diploma in the mail today, it sure is pretty!

It’s non-stop up in here!

What. A. Busy. Week!

This week is crazy!  Monday was dance pictures for Emma and Kaitlyn had a practice for the school talent show.  Tuesday was piano practice then straight to the school talent “show”.  Which semi-angered me because it was supposed to be a SHOW.  Turns out there were judges and three trophy winners.  I don’t really agree with judging elementary kids at a showcase of their talent. Anyways…she did great, but she did not win a trophy so she was kind of sad.

I forgot to take a picture of Emma on Monday, so this is her a few weeks ago trying on her costume.

Wednesday  and today I traded with a friend so yesterday she took Emma and I went and got my hair done, nails, and did a little homecoming dress shopping!  Then we were off to the USO to make welcome home signs for the base!!  We are getting so close and the girls are so excited to see their daddy!  Today was more errands and then Abby’s dance pictures who was adorable as well!

In between all of that I have been putting in a few applications here and there.  Not sure if I will hear back from any but it’s worth a try.  I also heard that there is an opening at a school that I really want to teach at!  I am really hoping to get an interview there!  Next week when life gets settled down I plan on starting to make some calls and hopefully get some meetings lined up!  We will see!  I am not totally sure how this whole process works, but I am sure I will learn as I go!

Busy weekend

My weekend started dinner on Friday night with a friend! Since my 11 year anniversary was the next day my friend took me out to Olive Garden! It was  great dinner then we did a little browsing at Charming Charlies!

Then Saturday Kaitlyn and I went to do a 5K with Girls on the run! She did a great job and it was a big accomplishment for her!

This is the New Berlin Elementary Girls on the run team and Champ the mascot showed up to support the girl We were all sweating, I can only imagine how hot he or she was!

Me and my mini-me waiting for the race to start!

Right after the race we went home to pick up the rest of our family and head to the beach to meet a whole big group of friends! Grandpa buried Abby and we turned her into a mermaid!

Then Sunday, after cleaning and laundry we played outside with neighbors who brought out their slip n’ slide!

And I just had to add a garden update! I picked these last night!

My bell peppers and Jalapeno’s are getting big! I also have cucumbers coming in but forgot to take a picture! I need to do something about the cucumber plants though, they are overtaking the whole garden! I over planted becuase I assumed some of the plants would not make it since there is no soil back there, just sand. I was wrong, not a single plant has died yet!  So I am going to need to learn how to can vegetables because we are going to have a ton!

This is how I ended my weekend; fighting for a spot in my own bed! These two are snoring, bed hogs!

This is my final week at Ridgeview!  After today I will only have two more days!  I am sad but excited at the same time! I am ready to do this full-time, but also get paid for doing it!  I have had such a great experience here and am very thankful to Mrs. Mullen and all of the students that I have had the pleasure of working with! Wednesday will be a sad day for sure.

End to spring break

Here is a recap of our spring break, many photos included!

The first day of spring break we finished our fire pit and also I planted a pretty extensive garden! I love fresh veggies and also not having to buy them at the store at outrageous prices! Here is the fire pit, not fancy, but it is big and will do the job well!

We had many St. Patrick’s day parties the past weekend. The ship that the hubs is on is the USS The Sullivans, named after 3 brothers who were Irish, so this holiday was a big deal for the ‘ship family’. The girls had lots of fun and I made green cookies for each of the two parties!

My poor Lola was spayed on Monday. She was so mad at me that she wouldn’t even look at me when I picked her up later that day. But she is back to normal now and still hyper!

Emma tried to make her feel better with a hug.

Girls night out dinner. Just me taking a picture to show how I joined the colored jeans fad. I do love purple!

Wednesday we went to Fernandina Beach and visited Fort Clinch and went to the beach.  Our trip was cut a bit short because it was starting to rain, but it was fun for a few hours!

Thursday we met up with friends at the zoo and visited the newly opened butterfly garden. The girls loved it and it was so neat, they had ‘fairy’ houses everywhere. No butterflies landed on them, so they were a bit sad about that.

Friday I took my oldest daughter to go see the Hunger Games, it was really good!  Then I took the younger two on a date to Tutti Fruitti, a yogurt shop, they loved it and it was pretty tasty as well!

Picture of the garden this morning, looking good after a little rain last night!  I have a ton of cucumber and tomato plants, I might need to learn how to can vegetables!

So far today has been me doing homework and laundry. But now all that is done we might just spend the rest of the day at home, watching movies. We have been on the go all week, had fun, but now I need to relax before we are back at school on Monday!

Who am I and why am I blogging?

I am not a first time blogger, just new to WordPress and I have decided to start over and focus on a different part of my life. Last night I had posted a whole long blog about me, where I came from, and how I got to where I am now. Sadly, it did not save so here I am, starting fresh, once again.

A little about me:  I have been married for eleven years in upcoming April.  My husband I met when we were in our senior year of high school. Soon after living together and soon after that getting married at the ripe old age of 19. Crazy, I know.  I blame that decision on the Navy. He enlisted when he was 19 and since then we have lived in Pensacola, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Brunswick, ME; Lemoore, CA, Newport, RI; and finally we are back here in Jacksonville, FL.

Since then we have had three daughters who are now ages 9, 6, and 4.  We have two English Bulldogs, Bruno and Lola, a cat named Tinkerbell, and two big fish tanks that I am suck cleaning since my husband is on deployment.  This is our fourth long deployment, I am not counting the 2, 3, or 4 month stints here and there.

On to more important information about me!  Vain, yes I am.  I took a good 7 years to work on my Associates degree, that was a huge accomplishment!  Then in 2009ish (?), so many places and dates it can be hard to remember, I graduated in one year with my BA in Elementary Education.  Then this last year I have done my master’s degree in Secondary Education and I am currently finishing my last 8 weeks of student teaching.  I know, I know, student teaching at the age of 30, am I crazy? Behind my peers? Ummm…probably.  But I love it and I am so excited to *hopefully* get a job this summer and be teaching in my own classroom this fall.

So this blog will kind of be an outlet to complain about being alone during deployment, dealing with 3 little monsters, and all the ups and downs that goes on in the classroom!  And maybe I can throw some good things in there too. We’ll see…….
